Wind Turbine Energy System
for Home Use
For many people, using a wind turbine energy
system at home does not work well, making it an impractical
choice. Many of the turbines needed to produce wind as a
renewable energy source are large and unsightly. However, if
you choose the right type of system and place it correctly, you
can actually experience a significant drop in the cost of
energy while being able to support a healthier environment.
Typically, a wind turbine
energy system works best for people that live in rural
areas. This way, there is usually more sustainable wind and the
turbine would not bother neighbors. Best of all, the wind
energy produced would be enough to run the entire home’s
electricity, or at least the majority of it.

Location
One of the biggest concerns is determining whether your home
is suitable for a wind energy system. The first and most
important thing to consider is whether your home is in a
location with appropriate wind speeds of at least 10 miles per
hour. If not, then the turbine would simply not work
efficiently.
Another tip for increasing efficiency of a wind turbine
energy system is by making sure it is installed high. For
instance, if the turbine were placed up high on a hill or even
a rooftop where there are no obstructions, the result would be
much greater. The reason is that wind speeds are better high so
if the turbine is high, then the system works more
efficiently.
This is why living in an urban community creates challenges
for a wind turbine energy system. With no high places and too
many obstructions from trees and buildings, it makes it
difficult for the wind to be efficient. Even so, a number of
smaller or micro types of turbines would work far better in a
situation such as this.
For the smaller wind turbine
energy systems, they are mounted easily on a mast located
on the property or on the rooftop. Keeping the turbine near the
home would likely produce enough wind to produce energy. In
some cases, it might be necessary to use a converter that would
help modify the current to an alternating current so that the
turbine works best.
The major benefit of using a wind turbine energy system is
the incredible savings. With the turbine being installed in the
most efficient location and with high enough winds, you could
save anywhere from 80% to 90% off your monthly electric bill.
Considering that a good turbine and generator would provide 30
years of service in producing renewable energy, it is easy to
see how the initial investment would quickly pay off.
